Head of Sports Partnerships, APAC

Joyee Biswas, a former ESPN South East Asia boss, joined Facebook as it’s Asia Pacific’s sports partnership head. Biswas, in his new role, will oversee Facebook’s partnerships with APAC-based leagues, teams, athletes and sports media and will be based out of Singapore. Prior to this, Biswas held senior roles at Eleven Sports Network and Singtel.

Laura is the Innovation Principal at Rakuten’s Chief Executive Innovation Office, focusing on driving strategic innovation initiatives within the Media & Sports Business. As part of her responsibilities, Laura overseas the Rakuten-NBA partnership, driving the success of all related business and product/service development. Laura and her team collaborate closely with the NBA to grow the League’s fan base in Japan while evolving the fan experience from multiple dimensions.

More than 20 years’ experience working in sports media with experience leading marketing leading multi-platform sports properties. In 2015 co-founded Goal Studios, Perform’s football digital agency that represents global clients such as UEFA, Nissan, Toyota, Rakuten and Hyundai.

Martyn relocated to Tokyo in 2017 to join the DAZN Japan leadership and assumed overall responsibility for the business in August 2018.

Julian Ogrin

Chief Executive

Before moving to Kayo Sports in July 2018, Julian enjoyed a great period of success with Australian telecommunication company amaysim. Joining amaysim in January 2013, Julian was appointed chief executive in July 2014. At the company he oversaw a rapid rise, growing it from launch in November 2010 to become the leading challenger brand in the Australian mobile sector, capturing nearly five per cent of the consumer market. At amaysim Julian created Australia’s largest mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), with more than 1.1 million subscribers, winning an independently voted MVNO of the year award in 2017 and 2018. Lastly, as chief executive Julian led amaysim to the Roy Morgan telco of the year prize in three of the last four years.

Varun has championed the development of immersive experiences like Gaming & Social and the ability to manage world record breaking scale, making Hotstar one of the foremost tech companies of the country. Prior to joining Hotstar, Varun led product teams at Hulu in Los Angles, and Amazon in Seattle. He earned an MBA and bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Applied Math from the University of Rochester in New York

Rahul Pushkarna leads Content Partnerships for Twitter across APAC where he engages premium Sports, News, and Entertainment publishers to extend, scale, market, and monetize their content and be part of the global conversation. He brings 18 years experience in a career spanning investment banking in Europe and the United States to leading sales and business development efforts for NBC, Fox, and Sony in APAC. Matthew Cheetham

Matt joined the Premier League in 2018 as the League’s first Head of Business Affairs, Asia-Pacific. Matt manages the Premier League’s regional office in Singapore and oversees enforcement efforts in the region. Prior to joining the Premier League Matt was the Managing Director of the New Zealand Screen Association for four years. From 2004-2014 Matt was the Regional Legal Counsel and Assistant Policy Officer at the MPA, Asia Pacific.

Mike joined beIN Asia Pacific at its inception in May 2016.  As Managing Director, Mike works closely with the beIN Media Group’s global leadership team to realise its mission of redefining the sports and entertainment experience for fans in Asia and ANZ.  With extensive experience in media, sales and sports marketing, Mike is tasked with shaping beIN’s business model and operations in the region while identifying new customer experiences and revenue opportunities.

Since joining beIN, Mike has expanded the beIN SPORTS brand in Asia and doubled the number of beIN SPORTS feeds to ensure wide coverage of its live events and bring fans closer to their much-loved sports and teams.  Mike is also responsible for the rollout of beIN’s first multi-device player in Asia, beIN SPORTS Connect.

Gareth Capon is CEO at Grabyo, the leading cloud video platform based in London, UK. Grabyo partners with broadcasters and rights holders including the The Premier League, La Liga, ITV, BT Sport, Sky, Univision, Tennis Australia and MediaCorp to maximise reach, engagement and video monetisation across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat and other digital platforms. Prior to joining Grabyo, Gareth was a Product Director at Sky where he managed Sky’s mobile app portfolio and led investments in tech startups in Europe and the U.S.  Gareth has a Masters, First Class in Geography from the University of Oxford.

Lee Choong Khay or better known as CK, is the Vice President of Sports Business for Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd, a leading content and consumer group in Asean. CK joined Astro in 1997 and has nearly 20 years of experience in the broadcast industry. He was instrumental in developing Astro SuperSport, which has become one of the top sports channels in Malaysia and the region, as well as launching the first 24-hour sports channel in Malaysia, Astro Arena, whose comprehensive coverage has raised the profile of many Malaysian sports and athletes.

Director, Business Development

Elson Soong is the business development director for cloud and SaaS, APAC at Harmonic. Previously, he was the managing director of sales – SEA at Harmonic. Soong has over 20 years of experience in sales and management serving the broadcast and pay-TV markets. He has been instrumental in helping customers deploy new innovations and leading the development of advanced technologies that streamline operations while also improving the end-user experience. He lives in Singapore and holds an advanced diploma in electrical and electronic engineering from Ngee Ann Poly and a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Birmingham City University.

Damian Willoughby

Damian is a well-respected sports marketing executive with over 18 years football industry experience across Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. He has worked with premium rights holders in partnership with leading blue-chip brands to deliver marketing platforms to meet strategic business objectives.

Following successful spells at Rangers FC, Chelsea FC and James Grant Sports USA, Damian joined Manchester City FC in January 2013 and now leads City Football Marketing’s Partnerships business globally across our eight offices, managing our existing portfolio of commercial partners and driving new partner acquisition.

Damian holds a BSc in Sports Communication from Ashland University (USA) and an MBA in Football Industries from the University of Liverpool (UK). He is currently living in Singapore and married with three daughters.

Before that, Lewis was the Ad Product Executive at Nine Entertainment. Lewis is a graduate of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.

Corin Dimopoulos joined Optus in 2015 as the head of brand and communications with the responsibility of developing the company’s brand strategy. In 2016, he also added TV and content to his portfolio. Corin has extensive global experience in media, premium content, digital product development, subscription platforms, consumer marketing and marketing strategy. Before joining Optus, Corin spent a decade at 21st Century Fox and News Corporation as an executive, working across the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Australia.

Corin has lived and worked extensively in Europe, the US, Latin America and Asia Pacific. He holds a bachelor of commerce degree, majoring in international business and minoring in political science.

Chris Marsh is the Asia Pacific General Manager at World Wrestling Entertainment, an integrated media company actively engaged in Television, Digital, Live Events, and Consumer Products businesses worldwide. As part of his responsibilities for WWE OTT growth in Asia-Pacific, Chris oversaw the launch of the WWE Network in Japan and Southeast Asia. Previously, Chris worked as a regional General Manager at The Walt Disney Company supervising movie distribution in Southeast Asia.  He graduated from Columbia University with a Master in Business Administration and a Bachelor in Political Science.  He is also a Board Member for Special Olympics Asia Pacific.

Pound and his team are responsible for growing all facets of ITTF’s marketing activities, including media, sponsorship, and commercial rights, which has seen record commercial income growth since the ITTF took back its commercial rights in 2017.

Jeff Nathenson

Managing Director, International

Jeff Nathenson is Managing Director, International for Whistle Sports, the global sports media network and community for today’s generation. Based in London, he is building the international operations by working with brands and federations to create the next generation of sports content through social platforms. He previously spent eight years at YouTube working on the transition from the platform’s early phase to bringing some of the biggest media properties and brand advertisers onto the platform. Jeff has also worked at CNN, IMG and Dow Jones in a number of different roles. Before and during his career, he studied at both New York University and London Business School.
